Large Constricting Snakes such as the Burmese Python are frequently sold as pets to many unqualified purchasers.  Little do these impulse purchasers know that this cute hatchling Burmese will grow to around 10-12 feet in a matter of a couple of years and be capable of taking their lives, such as this recent case where a reticulated python took the life of it’s owner during a routine medical treatment.  The goal of this page is to educate the prospective purchaser as to the husbandry requirements and safe handling of some of Mother Nature’s most elite predators.
